Trellis Panels – Treated Brown

Hazel Hurdle Fencing – Screening

Hazel Hurdle Fencing - Screening

Hazel hurdle fencing creates an attractive, rustic style screening in and around the garden. The construction is very sturdy and robust, featuring long strands of Hazel woven tightly between the solid upright supports. This style of panel has long been a popular choice with our customers, and is available in 3 different sizes.

How to fix Hazel Hurdle Fencing

Of course, firstly you’ll need some sturdy round stakes or square fence posts (rustic stakes are often preferred due to the nature of the panel). 2 stakes are needed per panel, but don’t forget that for more than 1 hurdle you’ll always need an extra stake to finish off the run. For example for 2 hazel hurdle panels, 3 posts or stakes are required (1 on each end, and 1 in the middle). For 3 panels you’ll need 4 posts and so on.

One method of fixing is to screw them into position. Although when doing this it must be stressed that great care should be taken. Due to the nature of the product, the uprights on each end of the panel may vary in thickness, so the thickest part should be used to screw through where possible. It is also essential that a pilot hole is carefully drilled first to avoid splitting the timber, for this reason, we don’t recommend this method.

The more preferable method is to use thick black cable ties to tightly strap the panels to the stakes. The black colour will be the most discreet and blend in better with the colour of the hurdle. A minimum of 4 cable ties should be used on each side of the panel for security.

STIHL Cordless Cut off Saw – TSA230

STIHL Cordless Cut off Saw - TSA230

This is the world’s first 9” cordless disc cutter. Cutting neatly & swiftly up to 70mm depth, the TSA230 is perfect for cutting roofing tiles, bricks, metal & paving blocks. It is particularly light at only 3.9 kg without the battery. Emission free cordless technology benefits both the operator & the environment while allowing the tool to be operated both indoors & outdoors. The water connection & vacuum accessories ensure effective dust control when cutting. It is supplied with an abrasive wheel for cutting steel.

Oak Fence & Gate Posts

Oak Fence Post

Our Oak posts are totally untreated. The natural tannins in the oak are a more effective preservative than any man-made treatment. The longevity of an oak post is vastly superior to any treated softwood alternative, as well as giving a pleasant rustic aesthetic. We stock the sizes listed below, but if you require something specific which we don’t stock, please contact us and we may be able to help you.

The appearance of oak can vary depending on the grade of the wood. Our Oak is fencing grade, and therefore can contain sometimes black bore holes and other imperfections which are typical to this type of product. None of these imperfections affect the structural integrity of the product. If you have specific requirements in terms of appearence, we strongly advise coming to site to view the product before purchasing. Green oak also has a natural tendancy to blacken in the sun and elements, so if our stock is a little older and as been in our yard a while it may have discoloured slightly, which again is perfectly normal and typical of this type of wood.

DURAPOST Composite Gravel Boards

gravel board

The Fencemate Durapost system has been designed to give a superb alternative to timber or concrete fence posts. Manufactured from galvanized steel, these gravel boards offer a way to ensure longevity as well as being discreet and stylish to look at.

STIHL RMA765 Professional Cordless Lawn Mower

STIHL Cordless Professional Lawn Mower - RMA765 V

The RMA 765 V is the ultimate cordless lawn mower for professional grounds maintenance and lawn care. Part of the STIHL AP System, operating the machine is quiet and sustainable, meaning you don’t have to worry about refuelling the machine mid-operation. The lithium-ion batteries provide the brushless electric motor with the right amount of energy required to power the powerful 2-blade mower and the synchronised blades. With a cutting width of 63 cm, the RMA 765 V delivers precise, fine cutting – no matter the terrain you are tackling.

The lawn mower is also fitted with an eco mode, which allows the mower to work even more efficiently by automatically adjusting the speed of the motor based on the currently required power. Before mowing, you can choose to collect the grass clippings in the 80-litre grass catcher box or simply eject the cut grass via the rear discharge system back on to the turf you are cutting. You can also retrofit the mower with a mulching kit accessory, where the fine grass particles will be evenly mulched back onto the turf in the form of a nutrient-rich mulch.

Thanks to the electric vario self-propulsion, you can adjust the speed of the mower to suit your needs. The lawn mower is made of both high-quality and durable materials. The hybrid housing consists of a robust aluminium outer shell and an inside wall made of impact-resistant polymer.

The cordless mower can be quickly adjusted thanks to the option to adjust the cutting height from 25 to 100 mm at each wheel and the foldable and height-adjustable mono-comfort handlebar. Features such as the cushioned super soft grip on the handlebar and the swivelling front wheels allows the mower to be manoeuvred with ease. You can also easily transport, store or clean the mower thanks to its foldable handlebar.

Using the lawn mower on speed setting 3 (3.5 km/h), you will have a battery range (in m²) of up to:

  • AR 2000 L = 2050 m² / 54 mins
  • AR 3000 L = 3100 m² / 80 mins
  • 2x AP 300 S housed in ADA 700 = 800 m² / 22 mins

SILKY Bigboy 2000 Folding Saw

SILKY Bigboy 2000 Folding Saw

The SILKY Bigboy saw is one of the largest folding saws available in the SILKY saw range and, apart from the Katanaboy, it gives a longer reach than all the folding pruning saws we keep in stock. The cutting performance is absolutely staggering and the 360mm hard chrome-plated blade features a low angle 2000mm radius curve. This pruning saw will easily tear through tree branches with the minimum of effort. When pruning trees with the Silky Bigboy 2000, as with all Silky saws, always let the saw do the work when cutting through a branch. Only light pressure is required when cutting as the razor-sharp teeth will do the rest.  One crucial thing to remember is to never twist the blade when in use as this will cause the blade to break. This is the case with any pruning saw, but especially Silky because, as you’ll discover, the razor sharp blade requires only a very small amount of pressure to get the job done quickly and efficiently.

The non-slip, 2-handed handle of the saw is rubber cushioned and the saw is very well balanced for an ergonomic and comfortable cutting experience. The Silky Bigboy 2000 is suitable for cutting through large branches, as well as small tree trunks. The blade is taper-ground with impulse-hardened non-set teeth. Replacement blades for this and every other Silky saw we stock are usually in stock and available to buy.

The Silky Bigboy 2000 continues to be one of our best selling pruning saws, not only from Silky but from the brands we stock. So, if you’re looking for a reliable and high performance pruning saw, then you need look no further!

STIHL TS410 Cut Off Saw

STIHL TS410 Cut Off Saw

The innovative TS 410 A is the first disc cutter for a 12″ wheel to have electronic water control. Ideal for dust suppression, it revolutionises water-assisted cutting. Simple keypad operation is possible without switching off or putting down the machine. Long life air filter system with cyclone pre-separation eliminates daily filter cleaning. Compact design with an optimised balance suitable for 300mm/12″ cutting wheel. Hand held or use with the FW 20 cart.

  • Reduced-emission engine technology – 2-stroke engine with stratified charge. A fuel-free layer of air is created between the burned charge in the combustion chamber and the fresh charge in the crankcase, reducing the amount of fuel lost during the charge cycle. This results in more power with a lower weight, up to 20% lower fuel consumption than regular 2-stroke engines and significantly reduced exhaust emissions.
  • STIHL Electronic water control (A) – The electronic water control system can be operated via simple buttons while the engine is running. The water then switches on and off during cutting automatially, depending on engine speed. The water volume can be regulated by simply pressing the plus / minus buttons, ensuring optimum dust suppression at the touch of a button.
  • Pre-separation air filtration system – STIHL long-life air filtration systems with pre-separation achieve perceptibly longer filter life compared with conventional filter systems. Air drawn in is swirled and the larger, heavier particles are ejected. The pre-cleaned air is routed to the air filter via the pre-separator duct.
  • Anti-vibration system – Intense vibration at the handles of power tools can lead to long-term effects on blood vessels in the hands and arms. STIHL has therefore developed an effective anti-vibration system whereby the oscillations from the machine’s engine are dampened which significantly reduces vibrations at the handles.
  • Manual fuel pump (Purger) – A small fuel pump delivers fuel to the carburettor at the touch of a button. This reduces the number of starting strokes required following extended breaks in operations.
  • Semi automatic drive belt tensioning – Light, consistent re-tensioning increases the service life of the belts and shaft bearings.
  • Compensator – This controller in the carburettor prevents the fuel-air mixture getting richer as the air filter becomes clogged. The correct quantity of fuel is delivered to the carburettor depending on the quantity of air passing through the air filter. This keeps the fuel/air ratio in the combustion mixture constant and hence also the engine power. The filter doesn’t need to be cleaned until an appreciable drop in power occurs.
  • Decompression valve – The decompression valve allows some of the compression pressure in the cylinder to escape, so less force on the starter rope is needed.
  • Ergonomic grip position – The modern, ergonomic design allows each user to work with an optimal grip position. The loop handle facilitates excellent cutting comfort in any working position.

ROCK EXOTICA Omni Block 1.5” (single)

ROCK EXOTICA OMNI BLOCK - SINGLE

The Rock Exotica Omni block swivel pulley replaces the need for using a separate pulley, carabiner and swivel in many tree climbing applications. The double locking side plate on the pulley gives secure access while you’re still connected to the anchor, rather than disconnecting a traditional pulley entirely to remove or attach a line. The Omni block is designed to give users the flexibility to work more safely and efficiently than when using a traditional arborist pulley.

Long Handled Yorkshire Billhook – Why is it named after an English county?

The billhook has over the years been used in coppice and hedge row work across the whole of the UK. Many counties blacksmiths made their own specific design, and thus it became known by the name of the county. The Yorkshire billhook pattern continues to be one of our best selling hedge laying hooks. There are a handful of popular patterns, most of which we sell, but many other counties have had, or still have their own patterns, each one original in it’s own way.

What is Hedge Laying?

Hedge laying is an old traditional technique for thickening up a hedge row. Most hedges when they get established will have more dense greenery higher up than at ground level. In years and decades gone by livestock was enclosed in by hedges which needed to be escape proof. Of course keeping unwanted visitors out would have been top priority. In more modern times with the availability of stock fencing etc, this is a more common approach, however hedge laying as a skill is far from finished and in fact there are well attended hedge laying competitions and other events around the UK every year which help to promote this traditional skill. If you look around the countryside between late autumn and early spring you can often find freshly laid hedges dotted around. In modern times hedges are given this treatment to help natural habitats and to keep the traditional skills alive. Also from a visual point of view, a newly laid hedge is a fantastic sight.

How to lay a hedge

Well, we won’t get too technical here, because there are variations and different approaches in different parts of the UK. The basic principal though is that a cut is put through the stem of the hedge, using a tool such as the Yorkshire billhook and then the whole stem is bent over. once this is done along the whole hedge, the new growth will thicken the hedge up from ground level to the top and make a nice dense hedge.

Request access to your personal data (commonly known as a “data subject access request”). This enables you to receive a copy of the personal data we hold about you and to check that we are lawfully processing it.

Request correction of the personal data that we hold about you. This enables you to have any incomplete or inaccurate data we hold about you corrected, though we may need to verify the accuracy of the new data you provide to us.

Request erasure of your personal data. This enables you to ask us to delete or remove personal data where there is no good reason for us continuing to process it. You also have the right to ask us to delete or remove your personal data where you have successfully exercised your right to object to processing (see below), where we may have processed your information unlawfully or where we are required to erase your personal data to comply with local law. You also have the right to object where we are processing your personal data for direct marketing purposes. In some cases, we may demonstrate that we have compelling legitimate grounds to process your information which override your rights and freedoms.

Request restriction of processing of your personal data. This enables you to ask us to suspend the processing of your personal data in the following scenarios: (a) if you want us to establish the data’s accuracy; (b) where our use of the data is unlawful but you do not want us to erase it; (c) where you need us to hold the data even if we no longer require it as you need it to establish, exercise or defend legal claims; or (d) you have objected to our use of your data but we need to verify whether we have overriding legitimate grounds to use it.

Request the transfer of your personal data to you or to a third party. We will provide to you, or a third party you have chosen, your personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format. Note that this right only applies to automated information which you initially provided consent for us to use or where we used the information to perform a contract with you.

Withdraw consent at any time where we are relying on consent to process your personal data. However, this will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdraw your consent. If you withdraw your consent, we may not be able to provide certain products or services to you. We will advise you if this is the case at the time you withdraw your consent.
